ONE-DAY PORCELAIN CROWNS & RESTORATIONS

With our CEREC System, Gentle Dental Group is proud to be able to offer fitted and long lasting full porcelain crowns and restorations. Using IPS Emax (Europe), 3M Lava Ultimate (USA) and other modern porcelains, we are able to deliver quality crown and porcelain work with minimum turn around time and our Gentle touch. 

Crowns are traditionally made of metal, or metal fused to porcelain. While this is a tried and tested method, it works best if gold is used as the underlying metal. However, due to increased gold cost, this is often substituted with cheaper semi-precious or non-precious alloys such as steel. The downside of this is that there tends to be poorer fit of the crown due to increased difficulty in casting the harder metal. In addition, metal crowns are cemented to the tooth, so a poor fit can lead to a marginal gap causing cement washing out, and the crown falling out.

Porcelain crowns now have longevity comparable to gold crowns. In addition, with the advent of modern 3D scanning, computerised assisted design and computer assisted manufacture (CAD-CAM), they can be fabricated within a day accurately.

In addition, modern porcelains can now be bonded to the tooth, effectively allowing modern dentists to effectively restore the missing portion of the tooth, with increased longevity and lower risk of dislodgement, while also removing less healthy tooth structure than before.
